Bus Pick Up and Drop Off Procedures

In order to ensure a safe and smooth process for families and drivers, please observe the following for drop off and pick up:

Pick Up

• Students must be picked up from the same location Monday – Friday.

• Students need to be at their designated bus stop ready to load the bus 5 minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive.

• Please keep your child 10 feet from the curb/road in the safe zone until the bus comes to a complete stop and the driver signals (drop their hand) that it is safe to approach the bus.

• Please do NOT chase the bus down if your child misses the bus. This is a major safety concern and the driver may not see you or your child.

Drop Off

• Students must be dropped off in the same location Monday – Friday.

• Students must wait 10 feet away from the curb/road in the ‘safe zone’ until the bus pulls away.

• Transfer of Responsibility: Once a student is safely delivered to their designated “place of safety” and the bus departs, responsibility for the child transitions fully to the parents.

• No Parent Presence Required: The District does not require a parent or guardian to be visible or present at the bus stop for a student to be dropped off. Many homes in our district are not visible from the road, drivers cannot verify if someone is inside.  Have a Back-Up Plan: We strongly encourage every family to establish a clear, pre-arranged alternate plan for their children in case no one is home. Please ensure your child knows what to do, whether that involves using a house key or electronic lock, going to a trusted neighbor’s home, or staying with an older sibling.

• For school-day emergencies, please notify the school immediately so we can promptly arrange the necessary arrangements.
